NSC Technologies currently seeking an experienced Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) for immediate work in Newport News, VA.
***Security Clearance Required***
Position Specifics: Must be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Need 3D capability. Inventor experience a plus. The selected candidate will offer recent experience in the development of AutoCAD Electrical / Power and Lighting drawings for Military vessels. Must have recent experience in ship checking military vessels (LHD/LHA/LCS/LPD/CVN/Etc.) in electrical / power and lighting.
Responsibilities of the Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) will include:
Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) will design components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) will utilize computer:aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.
Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) will gather information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) will coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Requirements of the Designer 3 (Electrical/Power and Lighting Designer) include:
Must have AA or other 2 year technical degree and related discipline and 3 years of related experience. HS + 3 years related experience may be substituted for AA degree.
Must have marine/naval progressive design experience in the naval ship design field within the last (5) years involving design and working plan development for construction conversion, modernization or alteration of U.S. Naval Ships in the area of electrical / power and lighting design.
Must have 2:D and 3:D CAD experience within the last year.
Must have AutoCAD experience within the last year.
Must possess full knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. (Limited supervision) No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
May assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Must be capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys as well as lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer.
Occasional ship/site checks (MUST HAVE RECENT SHIP CHECK EXPERIENCE).
Tools/Equipment/Environment: Drafting table and associated drawing tools. CAD workstation, Plotter, Copier, Printer, File Server. Portable computers. Office, industrial or shipboard environment.
Great 6:7 month contract assignment with a government organization Pay 25 : 35/hour (Flat rate :Based on relevant experience)
