Job Description:
Chipton Ross is currently seeking a PostGres System Administrator/DBA for a client in Newport News, VA to join our clients team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is a 6 month contract and the selected candidate may have the potential to perform work off:site.
The qualified applicant will become part of our clients AOC Program : Air Forces Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) Modernization program.
The AOC WS is the Joint Forces Air Component Commanders (JFACC) primary Command and Control (C2) node to develop the air and space operations strategies and plans to meet the Combat Commanders objectives. It is the senior element of the Theater Air Control System (TACS) which includes subordinate ground and air C2 units trained and equipped to plan, coordinate, control, execute and monitor air, space and cyberspace operations across the full range of military operations. The AOC controls a wide range of air power to achieve Air Force objectives of Global Vigilance, Global Reach and Global Power.
Modern war fighting demands a modern, standardized and integrated AOC. As a member of the Northrop Grumman AOC team, you will help to provide our warfighters with a state:of:the:art, net:centric computing solution that provides a flexible and robust environment for meeting the demands of time critical analysis and decision making processes now and into the future.
Roles and Responsibilities:
:Maintain operation of service:oriented architecture (SOA) computer systems, including coordination with system developers and network administrators.
:Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for government:provided and commercial software.
:Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
:Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
Required Experience:
:Bachelors Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in the engineering, implementing, and administering of Postgres Plus Advanced Server and writing PostgreSQL. An additional 4 years of experience may be traded for the degree requirement.
:Experience with installation and maintenance (i.e., including upgrades and patches, clustering) for Content Discovery and Retrieval (CDR) System
:Experience with VMware GemFire vFabric 6.5
:Experience in a SOA:based product development environment
:CompTIA Security+
Preferred Qualifications:
:Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) in order to plan and select access controls for protecting sensitive and classified information.
:Understanding of background and context for identification, authentication, and security settings embedded within DISA STIG documents specific to SQL Server and Postgres as well as SharePoint
:Self:starter/fast learner
:Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
