Senior Database Administrato r The Senior Database Administrator works with a team of DBAs and System Engineers to design, maintain, and administer multiple Oracle databases supporting enterprise functions of the College. Responsibilities to include: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch databases as required to maintain database concurrency and ERP software concurrency. Support and troubleshoot ERP and related software and assist other personnel in problem resolution. Maintain quality control and database audits to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Participate in database and application programming activities. Support and advise on application programming efforts. Work with team to maintain ERP and other enterprise software systems. In consultation with management, develop database strategies to support the needs of the College. Consult and advise users on access to various databases. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. COMPETENCIES: Working knowledge and proficient with Solaris Unix and Windows operating system. Knowledge of software configuration control (SCM) concepts and importance of SCM. An understanding of applications programming fundamentals and use of programming tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with application/database users in a professional manner. Strong technical writing and problem solving skills, with the ability to research and resolve issues effectively. Senior Database Administrator EXPERIENCE : Advanced experience in Oracle relational database management and PL/ SQL and SQL . Experience working with Oracle Application Server ( OAS ) and Oracle Fusion Middleware ( OFM ); Oracle Forms, Oracle Discoverer, and Oracle Reports. Experience working in web-based environments. Experience in server-software installation, upgrade, configuration, troubleshooting and testing. CERTIFICATION : Oracle Certified Professional( OCP ) is desirable. COMPETENCIES Working knowledge with Oracle Warehouse Builder ( OWB ) and ability to deploy OWB applications. Knowledge of web programming, especially Java-based. Knowledge of Spring application framework (Java), Hibernate object-relational mapping library, REST -based web services, and web service information exchange via SOAP . EXPERIENCE : Experience implementing or working with Banner or other higher education enterprise-wide system is highly preferred. Experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder ( OWB )and deploying OWB applications. Experience with Oracle Application Express is desirable Conditions of Employment: This position is subject to hours that extend beyond the normal work hours, to include weekend or holiday work. May require occasional overnight travel.
