We are seeking a Senior-Level Software Engineer to support operations in our Newport News, VA location. Synopsis: The Training Brain Operations Center (TBOC) facilitates and acts as the principal enabler for continuous learning across TRADOC lines of effort through acquiring, analyzing, creating, organizing, applying and transferring data, information, and knowledge in the context of current and future operations. The TBOC quickly and accurately represents the Operational Environment (OE) using a set of dynamic, integrated analytical processes, information technologies, knowledge networks, and tailored delivery applications. It connects with, integrates, and maintains real-world databases necessary to replicate the complex, competitive nature of the OE. The Training Brain seeks out, explores, and integrates technologies and standards-based methods to represent environments, events, and capabilities across Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) solution sets. Duty is at the TBOC in Newport News, VA. Basic Functions: To enable Training Brain?s far-reaching capabilities, DTL partners with the Services, government, industry, academia, and coalition partners to collaborate on innovative training and education solutions inserting technology into soldiers? hands where it makes sense. DTL acquires and hosts data to transform raw data to content for Training Support Packages or event data sets for Live, Virtual, Constructive and Gaming training to enable the Army Learning and Training Concepts. The DTL integrates, delivers and sustains tools and techniques for users in the field to grow the capacity to apply re-rendered data elements against training objectives at any level in the Army Integrated Training Environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Translate user requirements into executable and supportable software design and technical objectives to rapidly drive convergence towards the best governance compliant solution. In this role, the software engineer will analyze requirements, implement designs, program application interfaces and produce user-centric products. Integration of software is based on documented customer requirements and consistency with industry best practices and Army standards, policies, and products. Support to tiered integration and regression testing is inherent. Works within the Agile software lifecycle model from concepts to design and delivering through to formal release, field support and component migration. Candidate provides functional analysis for design, integration, implementation and support of spatial visualization features. Hands-on rapid integration with vendor, program of record and open source applications to establsih and maintain high quality code base, consistently delivering stable and maintainable modules on schedule that fit within the operating environment. Must be an excellent team player with strong collaboration skills and be able to work with various cross functional teams. Teams have diverse functional experts like operational analysts, DBAs, training and data specialists and system integrators and engineers focused on common user-centric objectives. Background Requirements: ? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical area. Master?s degree preferred. ? 10 years experience in applications development the majority of which was in a in rapid development environment (J2EE) ? Significant experience with Java Script with Open Layers for Geospatial access coupled with illustrative work with XML, Web Services, JDBC, Hibernate, Oracle, GWT, Spring, CSS, Swing and Java Script ? Development experience on UNIX/Linux and Windows systems with preponderance of expertise in Linux. ? Experience designing, planning, deploying, and troubleshooting applications in high-demand, high-assurance and-scalable operating environments. ? Competent with Apache Foundation Software products; e.g. Hadoop, Lucene, Solr, Glassfish, Hbase, Pig, Oozie, Hive. ? Technical background in software development or systems Integration/support experience on a medium to large federal project. ? Prefer performance experience in the intelligence community with knowledge of shell scripting; particularly in Army environment ? Experience transitioning proof of concept prototypes to structured build and release software lifecycle ? Prefer experience in DoD Architecture Framework 2.0 or Agile software development lifecycle model such as Scrum and/or eXtreme Programming ? Object Oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD) background and proficiency with Oracle or MySQL database design desired ? Experience with MVC, AJAX, Hibernate/Object Relational Mapping, Spring, JSP and Servlets, Web Services is a plus Conditions of Hire: &#xxxx; Individual must hold CompTIA Security+ certification and other DoD xxxx certifications appropriate for a developer or be able to acquire within 6 months. &#xxxx; Must possess a Secret Clearance with ability to gain TS with access to SCI. &#xxxx; Must possess a valid US passport for travel internationally. &#xxxx; 10-25% expected travel frequency.
