Title: VMware System Administrator Location: Newport News, VA Terms: Full Time Regular Hire Visa status: Secret Clearance Required College Degree Overview: The VMware System Administrator will demonstrate expertise in the installation, configuration, and administration of VMware vSphere and VMware Virtual Center Server. Solely responsible for implementing, tuning, and maintaining VMware based solutions. Responsibilities: Implements VMware vSphere for server consolidation and virtualization Actively seeks out opportunities to improve existing practices, procedures, and technology implementations Applies technical knowledge of networks, operating systems, utilities, etc. to the VMware environment Provides guidance to management for changes related to virtual infrastructure Defines, monitors, and troubleshoots system performance within the VMware environment Develops and maintains operational guidelines for the maintenance and support of the virtual infrastructure Evaluates resource requirements for VMware products Reviews existing technology, configuration, and implements improvements and upgrades. Manage and perform patch and software distributions, and manage security configuration of the systems. Provide reports for system health, configuration and capacity. Perform routine maintenance and apply software updates. Perform root cause analysis of service problems and develop solutions. Coordinates with other Infrastructure teams to deliver solutions and configuration items without user impact. Ensure processes are documented and up to date. Requirements 5 years implementing and supporting VMware vSphere ESXi and Virtual Center Server in medium to large DoD enterprise networks. Design, implement, and configure VMware SRM using NetApp storage Working knowledge of Windows Server (xxxx, xxxx) Working knowledge of Linux based operating systems Working knowledge of Netbackup as it pertains to the virtual environment Solid understanding of SAN as it pertains to the virtual environment Solid understanding of Networking as it pertains to the virtual environment Experience with creating and modifying scripts to configure and automate common tasks with esxcli or PowerCLI Secret Security Clearance Required Certifications VMware vSphere VCP5:DCV CompTia Security+ CE
